Syrup based on levodropropizina.
Therapeutic indications
Salvituss Syrup is used in the symptomatic therapy of cough.
Dosage and Posology
The drug should be taken according to the following doses and methods. In adults: 10 ml of syrup (corresponding to a soup spoon) up to 3 times a day at intervals of at least 6 hours.
In children: 10-20 kg – 3 ml of syrup (corresponding to a coffee spoon) 3 times a day; 20-30 kg – 5 ml of syrup (corresponding to a teaspoon) 3 times a day.
Treatment should be continued until the cough subsides or as directed by the doctor. However, if cough is still present after 2 weeks of therapy, it is advisable to stop treatment and seek medical advice. In fact, cough is a symptom and the causal pathology should be studied and treated.
Overdose
No significant side effects were reported after drug administration up to 240 mg single administration and up to 120 mg t.i.d. for 8 consecutive days. There is only one known case of overdose in a 3-year-old child treated with a daily dose of 360 mg of levodropropizin. The patient experienced mild abdominal pain and vomiting which resolved without sequelae. In case of overdose with obvious clinical manifestations, immediately institute symptomatic therapy and apply the usual emergency measures (gastric lavage, activated charcoal meal, parenteral administration of liquid, etc.), if necessary.

Indicazioni terapeutiche
Salvituss Sciroppo si usa nella terapia sintomatica della tosse.
Dosaggio e Posologia
Il farmaco va assunto secondo le seguenti dosi e modalità. Negli adulti : 10 ml di sciroppo (corrispondenti ad un cucchiaio da minestra) fino a 3 volte al giorno ad intervalli di almeno 6 ore.
Nei bambini: 10-20 kg – 3 ml di sciroppo (corrispondenti ad un cucchiaino da caffè) 3 volte al giorno; 20-30 kg – 5 ml di sciroppo (corrispondenti ad un cucchiaino da thè) 3 volte al giorno.
Il trattamento dovrebbe essere continuato fino alla scomparsa della tosse o secondo la prescrizione del medico. Tuttavia, se dopo 2 settimane di terapia la tosse dovesse ancora essere presente, è consigliabile interrompere il trattamento e chiedere consiglio al medico. Infatti la tosse è un sintomo e andrebbe studiata e trattata la patologia causale.
Sovradosaggio
Non sono stati segnalati effetti collaterali significativi dopo somministrazione del farmaco fino a 240 mg in somministrazione singola e fino a 120 mg t.i.d. per 8 giorni consecutivi. E’ noto un solo caso di sovradosaggio in un bambino di 3 anni trattato con una dose giornaliera di levodropropizina di 360 mg. Il paziente ha manifestato dolore addominale e vomito non gravi che si sono risolti senza sequele. In caso di sovradosaggio con evidenti manifestazioni cliniche istituire immediatamente una terapia sintomatica ed applicare le solite misure di emergenza (lavanda gastrica, pasto di carbone attivo, somministrazione parenterale di liquido, ecc.), se del caso.
