If necessary, it should be checked whether there is a contraindication from the position of the electrolyte balance.
Take special care with Mg 5-Longoral chewable tablets if you have kidney problems. High dose continuous use should be avoided.
Taking other medicines:
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines. In the case of additional iron therapy, care should be taken that the absorption of iron can be impaired if magnesium is taken at the same time. Also when taking tetracycline and sodium fluoride, an impairment of the absorption into the blood (absorption) with simultaneous administration of magnesium should be noted. It is sufficient to allow about 3 hours to elapse between taking the various preparations.
Pregnancy and breast feeding period:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. Mg 5-Longoral can be taken safely during pregnancy and lactation.
Driving and using machines:
When used as directed, Mg 5-Longoral can not affect the ability to react. There are no special precautions required.
Important information about certain ingredients of Mg 5-Longoral chewable tablets:
This medicine contains sorbitol. Please only take Mg 5-Longoral after consulting your doctor if you know that you have an intolerance to certain types of sugar. Note for diabetics: Mg 5-Longoral contains the sugar substitute sorbitol (197.5 mg sorbitol per chewable tablet), corresponding to 0.016 BE.
Always take Mg 5-Longoral exactly as instructed in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: The dosage of Mg 5-Longoral depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency. The average daily dose is 0.2 mmol, corresponding to approx. 5 mg magnesium per kg body weight. In the case of severe magnesium deficiency, this dose can be safely increased to 0.4 mmol, corresponding to approx. 10 mg magnesium per kg body weight. 1 chewable tablet Mg 5-Longoral contains 5 mmol corresponding to 121.5 mg magnesium. The following dosage guidelines apply to Mg 5-Longoral: Adults and adolescents 1 chewable tablet (364.5 mg magnesium) 3 times a day, children 6 years and older 3 1/2 chewable tablets (182.25 mg magnesium) daily.
Type of application:
Mg 5-Longoral chewable tablets should be chewed and, if necessary, taken with a little liquid before meals.
Duration of application:
Mg 5-Longoral should be taken until the magnesium deficiency is balanced or the magnesium deposits in the body are filled. Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effects of Mg 5-Longoral are too strong or too weak.
If you take more Mg 5-Longoral than you should:
The preparation should be discontinued or the daily dose reduced.
If you forget to take Mg 5-Longoral:
Do not take a double dose, just continue taking it as directed by your doctor or as described in the dosing instructions.
