Cefazink® 20 mg must not be taken:
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to zinc D-gluconate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and Precautions:
If zinc is used for a longer period of time, copper should be monitored in addition to zinc in the laboratory.
Taking other medicines: Cefazink 20 mg:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using other medicines, have recently taken / used any other medicines, or plan to take / use other medicines. When zinc and iron salts or copper salts are given at the same time, the absorption of zinc in the bloodstream can be reduced. Zinc can affect the availability of copper. The effectiveness of antibiotics such as tetracycline, ciprofloxacin and quinolones is reduced when zinc is taken at the same time. The administration of complexing agents such as D-penicillamine, dimercaptopropanesulfonic acid (DMPS) or edetic acid (EDTA) can reduce the absorption of zinc or increase the excretion. There should therefore be a gap of at least 2 hours between taking Cefazink® 20 mg and taking these preparations.
Taking Cefazink® 20 mg with food and drink:
Foods with a high phytin content (e.g. grain products, legumes, nuts) reduce zinc absorption. There are indications that coffee affects the absorption of zinc.
Pregnancy and breast feeding period:
If used correctly, there is no restriction in the recommended dose range when taking Cefazink ® 20 mg during pregnancy and lactation. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Driving and using machines:
No effects are expected.
