Characteristics:

Cetirizine inhibits both the “early” phase of the histamine-mediated allergic reaction and the movement of inflammatory cells, especially eosinophils, and the release of agents associated with the “late” phase of the allergic reaction.
Due to the prolonged effect of cetirizine, it can be given as a single daily dose in adults and older children.
