Therapeutic indications
Stixenil is used in the short-term treatment of occasional constipation.
Dosage and Posology
The drug should be taken according to the following doses and methods:
Adults and children over 10 years of age 1-2 coated tablets (5-10 mg) per day at bedtime
Children 2 to 10 years of age 1 tablet (5 mg) coated daily at bedtime
Children aged 10 years and younger with chronic constipation should be treated under close medical supervision. Bisacodyl should not be used in children 2 years of age or younger.
Do not take with milk or antacids; take the medicine apart by at least an hour. Do not take together with other medicines by mouth: space out the laxative by at least two hours. The correct dose is the minimum sufficient to produce an easy evacuation of soft stools. It is advisable to initially use the minimum doses provided.
When necessary, the dose can then be increased, but without ever exceeding the maximum indicated. Take preferably in the evening. Laxatives should be used as infrequently as possible and for no more than seven days. Use for longer periods of time requires a doctor’s prescription after adequate evaluation of the individual case. The tablets should be swallowed whole. Swallow with an adequate amount of water (a large glass). A diet rich in liquids favors the effect of the medicine.

Dosaggio e Posologia
Il farmaco va assunto secondo le seguenti dosi e modalità:
Adulti e bambini di età superiore ai 10 anni 1-2 compresse rivestite (5-10 mg) al giorno prima di coricarsi
Bambini dai 2 ai 10 anni di età 1compressa (5 mg) rivestita al giorno prima di coricarsi
I bambini di età uguale o inferiore ai 10 anni con stitichezza cronica devono essere trattati sotto stretto controllo medico. Il bisacodile non deve essere utilizzato nei bambini di età uguale o inferiore ai 2 anni.
Non assumere insieme a latte o antiacidi; distanziare di almeno un’ora l’assunzione del medicinale. Non assumere assieme ad altri medicinali per via orale: distanziare di almeno due ore l’assunzione del lassativo. La dose corretta e’ quella minima sufficiente a produrre una facile evacuazione di feci molli. E’ consigliabile usare inizialmente le dosi minime previste.
Quando necessario, la dose può essere poi aumentata, ma senza mai superare quella massima indicata. Assumere preferibilmente la sera. I lassativi devono essere usati il meno frequentemente possibile e per non più di sette giorni. L’uso per periodi di tempo maggiori richiede la prescrizione del medico dopo adeguata valutazione del singolo caso. Le compresse vanno deglutite intere. Ingerire insieme ad una adeguata quantità di acqua (un bicchiere abbondante). Una dieta ricca di liquidi favorisce l’effetto del medicinale.
