Melatonin contained in the preparation is a synthetic equivalent of a natural hormone produced in the central nervous system. It is responsible for regulating hours of sleep and wakefulness during the day.
The drug takes effect only after a certain period of regular use, usually after 2 weeks.
Melatonin Lek-Am – indications
- Sleep disorders related to disturbances in the sleep-wake rhythm, e.g. in sleep disorders related to time zone changes or shift work.
- Disturbances of the circadian rhythm of sleep and wakefulness in blind patients.
Melatonin Lek-Am – contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to melatonin or any of the other ingredients of the drug.
- Taking after drinking alcohol.
- Hormonal disorders.
- Liver or kidney ailments and diseases.
- Epilepsy, depression.
- Age under 18.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Melatonin Lek-Am – dosage
Preparation for oral use.
Take the tablet with 100 ml (approx. half a glass) of still water. Do not crush, divide, chew or suck.
Sleep disorders :
- resulting from time zone changes:
2-3 mg melatonin once daily after dark.
Start on day 1 of travel, then continue for 2-3 days.
- caused by shift work:
1-5 mg once daily, one hour before bedtime.
- for blind people:
0.5-5 mg once a day around 9:00-10:00 p.m.
