Our intestines are colonized by countless microcultures. These are increasingly associated with gut wellbeing. Both the number and the variety of microcultures seem to be decisive – because each bacterial strain fulfills its own function in the intestine. External circumstances such as the use of antibiotics can seriously disturb the balance in the intestine. In addition to the microcultures, the intestinal mucosa, as a breeding ground for the intestinal flora, is becoming increasingly important for intestinal health. An important component of the intestinal mucosa is phosphatidylcholine, which is synthesized from choline by the body.
Unser Darm wird von unzähligen Mikrokulturen besiedelt. Diese werden zunehmend mit dem Wohlergehen des Darms in Verbindung gebracht. Dabei scheint sowohl die Anzahl als auch die Vielfalt der Mikrokulturen ausschlaggebend zu sein – denn jeder Bakterienstamm erfüllt eine eigene Funktion im Darm. Ein wichtiger Baustein der Darmschleimhaut ist Phosphatidylcholin, das vom Körper aus Cholin synthetisiert wird.
