Acodin is a medicinal product used to temporarily inhibit unproductive cough. Acodin contains dextromethorphan. The drug by direct influence on the central nervous system inhibits the cough reflex. At therapeutic doses, it does not inhibit respiratory function and the functioning of the bronchial ciliary apparatus (the structure responsible for the transport of secreted mucus).
Indications
Acodin is used to periodically inhibit unproductive cough (so-called dry cough, not related to secretions in the airways) of various origins. For example:
cough due to a cold
pleural cough (e.g. chest injury)
cough caused by inhalation of irritants.
Acodin jest produktem leczniczym stosowanym do okresowego hamowania nieproduktywnego kaszlu.Acodin zawiera dekstrometorfan. Lek poprzez bezpośredni wpływ na ośrodkowy układ nerowy hamuje odruch kaszlu. W dawkach terapeutycznych nie wpływa hamująco na czynność oddechową i działanie aparatu rzęskowego oskrzeli (struktura odpowiedzialna za transport wydzielonego śluzu).
Wskazania
Lek Acodin stosuje się w okresowym hamowaniu nieproduktywnego kaszlu (tak zwany kaszel suchy, niezwiązany z zaleganiem wydzieliny w drogach oddechowych) o różnym pochodzeniu. Przykładowo:
kaszel wynikający z przeziębienia,
kaszel opłucnowy (np. urazy klatki piersiowej),
kaszel wywołany wdychaniem substancji drażniących.
