The medicine contains two active substances: acyclovir and hydrocortisone. Acyclovir is a virus inhibitor that helps fight the virus that is causing the cold sore. Hydrocortisone is a weak steroid that reduces the inflammation that accompanies cold sores.
It is used to treat the early signs and symptoms (such as tingling, itching, or redness) of cold sores on the lips and face to reduce the risk of cold sores reaching the sore stage.
Even if your cold sore has developed into a sore, the medicine will shorten the healing process by about half a day to a day compared to the no-active cream.
A cold sore is caused by the so-called herpes simplex virus. The virus causes blisters and sores mainly on the lips, but sometimes in other areas of the face. A cold sore can develop when the body’s immune system is weakened, such as when you have a cold or another infection. Stress, strong sunlight, cold temperatures or menstrual bleeding can also trigger a cold sore.
Dosage and instructions for use:
Apply Zovirax Duo at the first signs of a cold sore episode so that blisters do not develop in the first place. Before applying Zovirax Duo, remove cosmetics such as B. Lipstick. Wash your hands with soap and water before and after treating your cold sore.
Apply the preparation five times a day to an affected area and the outer edges of any existing cold sores. If you forget a dose, just make up for it and continue using it normally. Wash your hands after applying the cream.
You can apply cosmetic products (e.g. lipstick) through Zovirax Duo after the product has completely dried. Always use a separate cotton swab or something similar to avoid spreading the infection.
Apply the cream 5 times a day for 5 days (i.e. about every 3-4 hours while you are awake). It is recommended to start treatment as soon as possible, preferably at the first signs or discomfort (e.g. tingling, redness or itching).
Do not use for more than 5 days. If your symptoms persist for more than 10 days, talk to your doctor.

Ein Herpesblдschen wird durch das sogenannte Herpes simplex-Virus verursacht. Dosierung und Anwendungshinweise:
Tragen Sie Zovirax Duo bei ersten Anzeichen einer Lippenherpes-Episode auf, damit sich Blдschen mцglichst gar nicht erst entwickeln. Entfernen Sie vor dem Auftragen von Zovirax Duo Kosmetika, wie z. B. Lippenstift. Waschen Sie sich vor und nach der Behandlung ihres Lippenherpes die Hдnde mit Wasser und Seife.
Tragen Sie das Prдparat fьnf Mal tдglich mit einem betroffenen Bereich sowie die AuЯenrдnder eventuell bereits vorhandener Herpesblдschen. Wenn Sie einmal eine Dosis vergessen haben, holen Sie die Anwendung einfach nach und setzen Sie die Anwendung normal fort. Waschen Sie nach dem Auftragen der Creme ihre Hдnde.
Sie kцnnen ьber Zovirax Duo Kosmetikprodukte (z. B. Lippenstift) auftragen, nachdem das Mittel vollstдndig getrocknet ist. Verwenden Sie dazu immer ein separates Wattestдbchen oder Дhnliches, um die Infektion nicht zu verbreiten.
Tragen Sie die Creme 5 Tage lang 5-mal tдglich auf (d.h. etwa alle 3-4 Stunden, wдhrend Sie wach sind). Es wird empfohlen, die Behandlung so schnell wie mцglich zu beginnen, bevorzugt bei den ersten Anzeichen oder Beschwerden (z. B. Kribbeln, Rцtung oder Juckreiz).
Nicht lдnger als 5 Tage anwenden. Wenn Ihre Beschwerden lдnger als 10 Tage anhalten, sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt.
