Therapeutic indications
Nicorette Gomme is indicated in the treatment of nicotine addiction and promotes smoking cessation in smokers motivated to quit.
Dosage and Posology
The drug should be taken according to the following doses and methods: The dosage of Nicorette depends on the amount of cigarettes normally consumed by the individual smoker.
In adults and the elderly it is advisable to start with the 2 mg preparation by identifying, as necessary, the optimal posology, i.e. the number of chewing gums during the day. The number of gums used must be sufficient to cover the nicotine requirement. Chew gum whenever you feel the need to smoke. For most smokers, 10 x 2 mg gums per day are usually sufficient. If 15 2 mg gums per day are not sufficient, as for example in heavy smokers (more than 20 cigarettes a day) it is preferable to use Nicorette 4 mg chewable gum, or two 2 mg gums at the same time. Do not use more than 15 4 mg gums per day.
The recommended duration of treatment is 3 months. After this period, the daily dose should be gradually reduced. When this has dropped to 1-2 gums, it is recommended that you try to stop using Nicorette completely. However, it is advisable to have some spare chewing gum available in case of a sudden return of the desire to smoke. For the use of Nicorette gum in diabetic subjects see section 4.4. It is not advisable to extend the treatment beyond 12 months.
The safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years of age has not yet been established. It is important to chew very slowly for at least 30 minutes to achieve the release of nicotine. Chewing too fast causes the absorption of nicotine in too short a time: to avoid this inconvenience it is advisable to stop chewing from time to time

Nicorette Gomme è indicato nel trattamento della dipendenza da nicotina e favorisce la disassuefazione dal tabagismo nei fumatori motivati a smettere.
Dosaggio e Posologia
Il farmaco va assunto secondo le seguenti dosi e modalità: Il dosaggio di Nicorette dipende dalla quantità di sigarette normalmente consumate dal singolo fumatore.
Negli adulti e negli anziani è consigliabile iniziare con la preparazione da 2 mg individuando, secondo necessità la posologia ottimale, cioè il numero di gomme da masticare nel corso della giornata. Il numero delle gomme impiegate deve essere sufficiente a coprire il fabbisogno di nicotina. Masticare una gomma ogni qualvolta si senta il bisogno di fumare. Nella maggior parte dei fumatori sono di norma sufficienti 10 gomme da 2 mg al giorno. Nel caso non risultassero sufficienti 15 gomme da 2 mg al giorno, come per esempio in forti fumatori (più di 20 sigarette al giorno) è preferibile l’uso di Nicorette gomme masticabili da 4 mg, o due gomme da 2 mg contemporaneamente. Non utilizzare più di 15 gomme da 4 mg al giorno.
La durata consigliata del trattamento è di 3 mesi. Dopo tale periodo si dovrà gradualmente ridurre la dose giornaliera. Quando questa sarà scesa a 1- 2 gomme, si consiglia di provare a interrompere completamente l’uso di Nicorette. Tuttavia è opportuno tenere a disposizione qualche gomma da masticare di scorta, nel caso di un improvviso ritorno del desiderio di fumare. Per l’uso di Nicorette gomme in soggetti diabetici vedere paragrafo 4.4. Non è consigliabile protrarre il trattamento oltre i 12 mesi.
La sicurezza e l’efficacia nei bambini e negli adolescenti con meno di 18 anni di età non è stata ancora stabilita. È importante masticare molto lentamente per almeno 30 minuti per ottenere la liberazione della nicotina. Una masticazione troppo veloce determina l’assorbimento della nicotina in tempi troppo brevi: per evitare questo inconveniente si consiglia di interrompere di tanto in tanto la masticazione
