The product contains sterile, preservative-free isotonic seawater with a salt content of 0.9%. The solution contains all the micro-elements of sea water, only the salt content of the sea water has been reduced (= isotonized) so that the salt concentration corresponds to that in body fluids and mucous membrane cells.
It is used to clean and moisten the nasal cavity when it is dry or irritated, to loosen crusts, before and after nasal surgery and to rinse the nasal cavity to loosen the increased mucus that has formed during a cold or allergy.
It also speeds up healing after nose operations and shortens the duration of a cold (rhinitis). The use of decongestant medication can also be reduced.
