A fast, simple and reliable test to detect chlamydial infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis from cervical swabs in women, urethral swabs in men and an eye sample in symptomatic patients . 5 tests in one package.
Chlamydial infection is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydial infections are very insidious . The disease usually manifests itself as inflammation in the urogenital tract or rectum. However, the disease can also take place covertly, because some of the infected do not experience any symptoms, such as discharge or pain in the genitals.
MEN – In men, the infection is manifested by inflammation of the urethra. 40 – 50% of all inflammations are caused by the presence of chlamydia. If the infection shows up, the first symptoms are burning and pain when urinating, sometimes an aqueous discharge from the urethra may occur. The incubation period is 10-20 days. If not treated in time, complications can occur. The infection passes from the urinary tract to the prostate and then through the vas deferens to the testes and epididymis. In some cases, inflammation of the rectum also occurs. Inflammation is very painful and can result in infertility.
WOMEN – the vaginal mucosa in women is resistant to chlamydia, so the infection penetrates to the cervix. The manifestations are usually not significant, and therefore the health condition is often underestimated. In particular, there is discharge (indeterminate, slimy to purulent), pain during sexual intercourse, bleeding during the cycle and also, as in men, itching and burning when urinating. The external genitalia may also be affected by blisters. In women, chlamydial infections usually affect both the cervix and the urethra. If the infection is not treated in time, the infection progresses through the uterus to the fallopian tubes and ovaries. It arises as a so-called deep pelvic inflammation, which is manifested by severe pain in the lower abdomen, increased temperature, or menstrual disorders.
Human chlamydial infection causes diseases such as conjunctivitis , venereal lymphogranuloma, and a number of other sexually transmitted diseases (up to 25 clinical syndromes) that have previously been attributed to other or unknown etilologies (rectal mucositis, cervical inflammation, infertility, Reiter’s syndrome, epididymis, pelvic inflammation and ectopic pregnancy). Cervical infection can be a factor in the development of cancer . In some cases, transmission to the newborn occurs during childbirth. In 40% of cases, newborns develop chlamydial conjunctivitis a few weeks after birth, and in 10% of them, neonatal pneumonia develops after two or more weeks, which can be fatal.
Although chlamydial infection responds well to antibiotic therapy , the increase in disease is still increasing dramatically . Early diagnosis is the basis of successful treatment.
