Active ingredient: sodium cromoglyca te
Sodium cromoglycate has an antiallergic and anti-inflammatory effect.
Bischromone, a prophylactically effective antiallergic, mast cell stabilizer.
Indications:
Food allergies: Cases of eczema, urticaria, Quincke’s edema, skin itching, gastrointestinal disorders (vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain). Asthma and nasal catarrh (rhinitis), in which food allergens are the main provoking factors. Note: Allergoval capsules are not suitable for the treatment of acute asthma attacks.
Contraindications:
Allergoval capsules should not be given in case of known hypersensitivity to sodium cromoglycate or any other component of the drug. The use of Allergoval capsules is not recommended for infants in the first two months of life (longer for premature infants).
Pregnancy:
There is currently no evidence of a fertility-damaging effect of sodium cromoglycate. However, as a matter of principle, Allergoval capsules should only be used during pregnancy if the physician considers it necessary.
Use during breastfeeding should only be carried out after careful risk-benefit assessment.
Side effects:
Nausea, rash and joint pain have been observed sporadically. These symptoms disappeared spontaneously after discontinuing the medication. In isolated cases, hypersensitivity reactions with skin redness, urticaria, facial swelling and severe generalized anaphylactic reactions with bronchospasm have been described in association with sodium cromoglycate therapy.
Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and over take 2 capsules of Allergoval (equivalent to a total of 800 mg of sodium cromoglycate) four times daily. Children aged two to fourteen years are given one capsule of Allergoval four times daily (equivalent to a total of 400 mg of sodium cromoglycate). For infants and toddlers aged two months to two years, the daily dose is 20 – 40 mg/kg of body weight. It should be taken in equal doses before each meal, if possible.
