Cetixin 10mg -Cetirizine dihydrochloride is the active ingredient of the medicine.
The drug is an antiallergic.
The drug is indicated for adults and children aged 6 years and over for:
Relief of nasal and ocular symptoms of seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis.
Relief of urticaria (hives).
The medicine should not be taken if you are allergic to cetirizine, any of the other ingredients of this medicine, hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives
If you have severe kidney disease and require dialysis.
Use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age
Recommended dose: 10 mg once a day, 1 tablet
Use in children aged 6 to 12 years
Recommended dose: 5 mg twice a day, half a tablet twice a day
Patients with moderate renal impairment are recommended to take 5 mg once a day.
If your child has severe kidney disease, talk to your doctor or pharmacist who can adjust the dose to suit your child’s needs.
The length of treatment depends on the type, duration and progression of your symptoms.
The side effects described below may become more severe after overdose. Side effects reported include confusion, diarrhea, dizziness, tiredness, headache, malaise (feeling generally unwell), dilated pupils, itching, restlessness, sedation, somnolence (sleepiness), drowsiness, rapid heartbeat, tremor and urinary retention (inability to completely empty the bladder).
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
No clinically significant interactions have been observed between alcohol (at a blood level of 0.5 parts per thousand (g/L), equivalent to about one glass of wine) and this medicine at recommended doses. However, there is no safety data on the concomitant use of higher doses of cetirizine and alcohol. Therefore, as with all antihistamines, it is recommended to avoid concomitant use of the drug and alcohol.
This medicine should not be given to children under 6 years of age, as the tablets do not allow the necessary dose to be adjusted.
In clinical trials, the drug at the recommended dose did not cause any signs of impaired attention, alertness or driving ability.
If you intend to participate in road traffic, work without a secure grip or operate machinery, you should carefully monitor your reaction to the drug after taking it.
The drug should be avoided in pregnant women. Accidental ingestion of the drug by pregnant women should not lead to harmful effects on the health of the fetus.
Cetirizine dihydrochloride passes into breast milk. Adverse reactions associated with this drug may occur in infants who are breastfed. Therefore, you should not take the drug during breastfeeding.
Tablets should be taken whole with a glass of liquid.
