Allergoval capsules with the active ingredient cromoglicic acid (also called sodium cromoglicate) are used for food allergies. Cromoglicic acid is a mast cell stabilizer that makes the mast cells less sensitive to the inflammatory messenger substances. Bei Säuglingen und Kleinkindern zwischen zwei Monaten und zwei Jahren beträgt die Tagesdosis 20-40 mg/kg Körpergewicht. Sie sollte möglichst in gleich großen Einzeldosen vor jeder Mahlzeit verabreicht werden. Hierzu ist es gegebenenfalls erforderlich, den Inhalt einer Kapsel auf mehrere Gaben zu verteilen.
Sofern erforderlich, kann die Dosis bei Erwachsenen auf viermal täglich 5 Kapseln Allergoval, bei Kindern im Alter von zwei bis vierzehn Jahren auf maximal viermal täglich 2 Kapseln Allergoval (entsprechend insgesamt 800 mg Natriumcromoglicat) erhöht werden. Eine Tagesdosis von 40 mg/kg Körpergewicht sollte jedoch nicht überschritten werden.
15-30 Minuten vor den Mahlzeiten einnehmen. Kapseln entweder ganz mit etwas Wasser schlucken oder – bei Nahrungsmittelallergie besonders zu empfehlen – Kapselinhalt in 2-3 Eßlöffeln heißem Wasser gelöst einnehmen.
Die Einnahme von Allergoval Kapseln sollte in möglichst gleichen Zeitabständen erfolgen, d. h. morgens, mittags, nachmittags und abends. Über die Dauer der Anwendung entscheidet der behandelnde Arzt.
Wenn es bei Ihnen bereits in der Vergangenheit nach dem Genuß von Nahrungsmitteln zu einer lebensbedrohenden allergischen Reaktion (anaphylaktischer Schock) gekommen ist, sollten Sie auch während der Behandlung mit Allergoval Kapseln vorsichtshalber auf den Verzehr der betreffenden Nahrungsmittel verzichten.
