Altabactin is a medicinal product used for small wounds and cuts.
The active substances are bacitracin (Bacitracinum) in the form of zinc bacitracin and neomycin (Neomycinum) in the form of neomycin sulphate.
1 gram of ointment contains 250 IU. bacitracin in the form of zinc bacitracin and 5 mg of neomycin in the form of neomycin sulfate.
Excipients: lanolin, liquid paraffin.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
Use 2 to 3 times a day.
A thin layer of the ointment should be applied to the affected area of the skin. If necessary, it can be covered with a dressing.
Do not use for more than 7 days.
If there is no improvement or the patient feels worse after 7 days, see your doctor.
Action
Altabactin contains two substances with antibacterial properties: neomycin and bacitracin. The use of two antibiotics extends the range of action of the drug. Altabactin is not active against fungi, viruses and some types of bacteria (Pseudomonas, Nocardia).
Indications
Altabactin is indicated for the topical treatment of bacterial infections of small areas of the skin, such as:
infections of small wounds,
skin infections in the course of frostbite and burns.
Contraindications
Do not use Altabactin
if you are allergic to bacitracin, neomycin, other aminoglycoside antibiotics or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
on large areas of the skin, in severe skin damage and long-term, due to the risk of toxic effects of the drug on kidneys and hearing, including hearing loss
if you have severe heart or kidney problems;
if the patient has previously been diagnosed with damage to the organ of hearing (atrium or cochlea);
if you have a hole in the eardrum (perforation), do not use the outer ear ointment;
for the eyes and mucous membranes;
for deep or stab wounds, oozing lesions;
severe burns;
large areas of damaged skin.

Substancje pomocnicze: lanolina, parafina ciekła.
Dawkowanie
Ten lek należy zawsze stosować dokładnie tak, jak to opisano w ulotce dla pacjenta lub według zaleceń lekarza lub farmaceuty. W razie wątpliwości należy zwrócić się do lekarza lub farmaceuty.
Stosować od 2 do 3 razy na dobę.
Cienką warstwę maści należy nakładać na chorobowo zmienione miejsce na skórze. W razie potrzeby można przykryć opatrunkiem.
Nie stosować dłużej niż 7 dni.
Jeśli po upływie 7 dni nie nastąpiła poprawa lub pacjent czuje się gorzej, należy zwrócić się do lekarza.
Działanie
Altabactin zawiera dwie substancje o działaniu przeciwbakteryjnym: neomycynę i bacytracynę. Zastosowanie dwóch antybiotyków rozszerza zakres działania leku. Altabactin nie działa na grzyby i wirusy oraz niektóre rodzaje bakterii (Pseudomonas, Nocardia).
Wskazania
Altabactin jest wskazany w miejscowym leczeniu bakteryjnych zakażeń małych powierzchni skóry jak np.:
zakażenia niewielkich ran,
zakażenia skóry w przebiegu odmrożeń i oparzeń.
Przeciwwskazania
Kiedy nie stosować leku Altabactin
jeśli pacjent jest uczulony na bacytracynę, neomycynę, inne antybiotyki aminoglikozydowe lub na którykolwiek z pozostałych składników tego leku
na duże powierzchnie skóry, w ciężkich uszkodzeniach skóry oraz długotrwale, ze względu na ryzyko toksycznego działania leku na nerki i słuch, z utratą słuchu włącznie;
jeśli pacjent ma ciężkie zaburzenia czynności serca lub nerek;
jeśli u pacjenta stwierdzono wcześniej uszkodzenie narządu słuchu (przedsionka lub ślimaka);
jeśli pacjent ma przedziurawioną błonę bębenkową (perforacja), nie należy stosować maści do ucha zewnętrznego;
do oczu i na błony śluzowe;
na rany głębokie lub kłute, sączące zmiany chorobowe;
ciężkie oparzenia;
duże powierzchnie uszkodzonej skóry.
