Mode of action
The active ingredient nonivamide is the synthetic analogue of capsaicin, the hot substance in capsicum plants. Applied externally, it penetrates the skin tissue and docks here at special binding points of the body’s own messenger substances. This initially leads to an increased release of certain transmitters and a local sensation of warmth. In a second phase, the perception of pain is reduced, thereby dampening the sensation of pain.
