Hydrocolloid paste dressing is a medical device designed to fill cavities in dry wounds and with low levels of secretion. It guarantees an optimal, moist wound healing environment, and also lowers the pH level, stimulating the activity of microbes and reducing the risk of infection. Hydrocolloid paste in contact with the secretion swells to form a soft gel that fits the wound, protects the nerve endings, thus reducing pain and facilitating wound cleansing. The paste does not stick to the wound, so it can be easily removed.
