The drug is applied
as uric acidifying substance:
- with bacteriostatic effect in urinary tract infections,
- for prevention in patients with neurogenic bladder dysfunction,
- to optimize the effect of antibiotics with optimum effect in acidic urine (pH 4-6): e.g. Ampicillin, carbenicillin, sulfonamides, nalidixic acid, nitrofurantoin,
- to avoid the formation of new stones in phosphate stones (struvite, carbonate apatite, brushite).
